We’ve answered some of the questions you may have about our Protect range of insurance products
QWhat happens if my carer is accidentally injured while carrying out their support duties?
AOur policy will pay towards the additional costs for temporarily replacing your employee. For example, any increased salary costs for an agency carer versus your full-time employee.
QWhat if I have to make my employee redundant? Am I covered?
AOur policy covers the costs of statutory redundancy & notice to employees if Local Authority funding is reduced/withdrawn, or the person receiving care goes into full time residential care or passes away.
QWho can I contact if I am unsure about my rights and responsibilities as an employer?
AWith Fish Insurance’s Care Protect policy, you get 24/7 support from an employment law and health and safety helpline.
QMy carer is self-employed. Do I need to take out Insurance?
AAs you are not your carer’s employer, you do not need the Employers’ Liability insurance included with Fish Insurance’s Care Protect policy. However, you should check that your carer has Public Liability insurance. This ensures you can make a claim if anything was to happen. We offer Public Liability insurance as part of our Carer & Personal Assistant Insurance policy.
QDo I need Care Protect Insurance if I employ a carer?
AYes, if you employ a carer or personal assistant it is a legal requirement to have employers’ liability insurance. This is included with our Care Protect Insurance.
