We know that without your adapted vehicle, life can feel like someone pressed pause. Appointments can become harder to manage, work can be disrupted, and independence is affected. That’s why we’ve designed our WAV policies to protect not just your vehicle, but your freedom to live life your way.
Here’s what our WAV insurance can include:
Courtesy car
If your car is being repaired at one of our approved garages, we’ll offer you a courtesy car for as long as your car is in for repair. We will always try our best to ensure the vehicle meets your individual mobility needs. If we can’t provide a suitable vehicle, we will offer you a mobility allowance to cover travel expenses.
Once you have shared receipts, we will pay £50 per day up to a maximum of £700 during your policy to allow you to:
- Hire a vehicle
- Hire a taxi
- Use public Transport.
Car adaptations
We will cover loss or damage to vehicle adaptations for replacement as new, subject to the overall limit for accessories and adaptations under the policy.
Breakdown cover
If your WAV breaks down, we’ll repair or recover it up to 20 Miles. We can also arrange transportation for passengers to a single destination (subject to distance limits and terms).
Wheelchair cover
Our policy can include cover for wheelchairs and mobility aids being transported in your vehicle up to £2500, if they are lost or damaged when your car is involved in a fire or accident .

When your vehicle is your independence
Standard car insurance might cover your vehicle, but it won’t necessarily cover the things that make your vehicle work for you – like access to a suitable courtesy car if yours is off the road, or proper protection for your modifications and adaptations.
