Fish Insurance has announced a new partnership with Accomable, the ‘Airbnb for disabled people’, to offer its UK customers 15 per cent off travel insurance.
As well as the special 15 per cent discount, benefits to Accomable customers will include specialist policies which cover a wide range of pre-existing medical conditions, the emergency replacement of prescription medicines, cover for a replacement carer, and protection of mobility and disability equipment.
The move is part of Accomable’s long term aim to become a ‘one-stop shop’ for all aspects of accessible travel, including adapted accommodation, equipment and WAV (wheelchair accessible vehicle hire, excursions and travel insurance.
Accomable CEO and Co-founder, Srin Madipalli, said: “In our experience, finding the right travel insurance is one of the biggest sources of worry for our customers, particularly if they are travelling abroad with expensive and specialist mobility equipment.
“That’s why we’re thrilled to be partnering with Fish Insurance. We only ever recommend providers we can trust, and many of our team already use Fish Insurance for their own travel insurance and additional equipment cover.”
Fish Insurance Managing Director, John Garrard, added: “As a specialist insurance provider to disabled people with more than 40 years’ experience, we are delighted to be working with accessible travel experts, Accomable. Our company was built to ensure those with disabilities could access the insurance they need at a fair price, and we look forward to helping Accomable customers travel more and worry less.”
UK disability charity, Scope, has released new research which found 26% of disabled adults feel that they have been charged more for insurance or denied cover completely because of their disability. Scope also found that disabled people find travel insurance the hardest type of insurance to access.
