Why do I need a travel insurance medical policy?
We are aware that many people with pre-existing medical conditions often struggle to find suitable or affordable travel insurance. As a result, many choose to travel without declaring their conditions or purchasing insurance at all, putting their health at risk and raising the possibility of huge medical bills. It is the firm advice of the government and tour operators that you do not travel without suitable insurance in place. We aim to ensure you can follow that advice by providing affordable travel insurance for most pre-existing conditions.
What medical conditions affect travel insurance?
You need to tell your insurer about any medical conditions you have received advice, treatment, or medication for in the last 12 months. If you refuse to declare these conditions, and then need to make a claim as a result of them, your insurance could be invalid.
How much does travel insurance cost for people with medical conditions?
This depends on several factors including what the medical condition is, where you are looking to travel, and how long the cover is for. Here at Fish, we specialise in insurance for people with disabilities and pre-existing medical conditions, so we will always try to get you the right cover for the right price.
I had a heart attack. Will your policy cover me?
Even though you have a pre-existing medical condition, if your doctor has declared you fit to travel, we can cover you. Heart attacks (myocardial infarction) are among a range of cardiac conditions and related issues that our policy can cover. These include angina, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, high cholesterol, ischaemic stroke, and haemorrhagic stroke. We can also cover you if you’ve had a stroke. Certain conditions and exclusions apply. Please read the policy wording for full terms and conditions.
I have diabetes. Will you be able to quote for travel insurance?
Both Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are among the many pre-existing medical conditions which our travel insurance will cover.
I have cancer and require travel insurance. Can you help?
We provide travel insurance for cancer patients, including people with cancers in remission.
Can I get travel insurance if I have epilepsy?
Yes. We provide travel insurance for people with epilepsy.
Is your travel insurance available for over 70s?
Yes, unlike many companies we can provide travel insurance for people of any age.
